Why the Full Life Foundation

• The Full Life Foundation was formed to provide the security that if residents outlive their financial resources, they can continue to live at La Vida Llena. Residents may not give away money and then request help.

• The foundation will pay all or part of the La Vida Llena monthly service fee for these residents to maintain their quality of life.

• Short-term support is also available for extraordinary expenses.

When and how to apply

• Residents are urged to apply for assistance at least 6 months before they anticipate a shortfall.  The process is lengthy.  

• Guidelines are flexible.  Residents should not wait until their net financial worth is less than $10,000 for singles or $15,000 for couples.

• The Pacific Retirement Services Business Office Manager reviews the resident's financial situation.

• Only the Executive Director and the Business Office Manager know who is applying for assistance.

• Applicants are known to board members as a number, e.g. “applicant # 25.”

• Let your family know about how the Full Life Foundation can help.  Family members can apply on your behalf.

The number of monthly recipients has been as high as eleven residents.  The Full Life Foundation currently supports four residents and has helped over twenty residents over the years. The Foundation has distributed over $1 million.

In 1995, The Full Life Foundation became a 501(c)3 non-profit tax-exempt organization.  We are separate from La Vida Llena and Pacific Retirement Services. Form 990 Tax Returns are available on this website: www.LVLFLF.org

Management of Pacific Retirement Services has not affected The Full Life Foundation.  Only residents of La Vida Llena can receive help from The Full Life Foundation.  The foundation belongs to the residents: it is “Neighbor Helping Neighbor.” The Full Life Foundation currently has over 9 million dollars in assets. Investments are professionally managed. The Full Life Foundation Board reviews management and investment. An independent third party reviews the Full Life Foundation's overall finances.

The Full Life Legends Tree, located in the hallway near the Corner Bistro, has leaves with the names of people who have donated $10,000 or more.  The Full Life Foundation celebrates donors annually at a special event.

The Full Life Foundation does not hold fundraising drives or events. It relies on unsolicited donations made by residents, their families, and friends.  Donations are tax-deductible.

How to donate

• One-time, monthly, or annually.

• An "In memory of" or “In honor of” gift honoring anyone, anytime or for special events.

• The Full Life Foundation can be made the beneficiary of wills, trusts, pensions, IRAs, and Charitable Gift Annuities

• Bank accounts or CDs can be made “payable on death” to The Full Life Foundation.

• To donate appreciated stock to The Full Life Foundation, ask your broker to make a direct transfer to the Full Life Foundation’s brokerage account. Send your request for account transfer information to treasurer@lvlflf.org.
